Differences in
the two religions – 6
The
chief aim of all Sufi is to seek the pleasing of Khudaa, by working
to restore within them the primordial state of conscience, the inner
law of Sufism consists of rules about repentance from sin, the
purging of contemptible qualities and evil traits of character, and
adornment with virtues and good character. Thus Sufism has been
characterized as the science and art of the states of the lower self
(the ego), and the way of purifying this lower self of its
reprehensible traits, while adorning it instead with what is
praiseworthy, whether
or not, this
process of cleansing and purifying the heart is in time rewarded by
esoteric knowledge of God.
This compares well
with Hindu concept of three instincts, Divine, Animal and Evil
(Rakshas). They are the primordial instincts embedded in all persons.
To encourage one of them makes the choice of one’s life. Out of
these three, Animal instinct is essential as it is due to the body we
hold. All essentialities of body needs come in that. The method
adopted to achieve these needs decides the type of life one lives.
Divine or virtuous methods make life free from sinful acts and that
is the guiding principle of Sufi followers. Ordinarily person adopts
Evil or Rakshas method that leads to sinful life. Evil methods are
easy to follow and that makes things easy but cause sinful acts and
further deterioration of the person spiritually. Sufi condemn the
Rakshas method altogether. Whereas, Islam says, one can follow
Rakshas method and then pray of Allah. What sin happens, prayers of
Allah dually clean? Here Sufi differ, that explains why Sufism is
different from Islam, and why it cannot be part of Islam, whatever
the Mainstream scholars of Islam, may pretend.
Encouraging
Divine instinct within is the continuous effort of true Sufi. Islam
suggests to its followers that they may sin but they should pray and
do other four things (testimony, fasting, pilgrimage and donations)
and promise that Allah shall pardon them, whatever the sin. This is
the reason why we see criminal mentality growing unabatedly and
shamelessly, amongst Muslims. The rise of al-Qaeda
and Bin Laden should not be any surprise. Under such upbringing, what
else we expect to develop?
When
we see history of Islam, we often find that Ulema intended to
persecute many Sufi saints. The reason for that becomes clear from
these observations. Here, we see names of some renowned Sufis and
their say: in next post.
