Where Angels fear to trade… part 6

Continued from previous post –

One evening our Prime Minister announces that hereinafter notes of 500 and 1000 rupees denominations will not be valid! He gave an excuse that his government is taking this decision to discover black money. Such announcement is the duty of Reserve Bank Governor and not PM. Before making such an important announcement, he should have first informed members of parliament. However, Modi did not find that necessary. One BJP member told me that ever since that party became powerful majority, they have lost all sense of mannerism. They have become arrogant towards people and other members of the House. They know nothing can be done by anybody to them and their strength. Modi's misbehavior is due to this arrogance. He forgot that he had told voters that he is servant of Indian citizens when he first gave his speech; and began to do things unfit for a true representative of people.

The way Modi announced demonetization of currency he may also one day announce that all our money in Banks is now property of Government and that he orders this for the good of India! I will not be surprised if he does this. What guarantee we have that this will not happen? Modi has pocketed Reserve Banks of India governor, he has pocketed all Supreme Court judges, and he has control on attorney general and such strategically placed persons. This style of working may work for some time but it will not work always. This is not Modi alone doing all by himself. The party he belongs is party to it. I say this because one founder member of present BJP, Pramod Mahajan had told in one of his interviews that his party and its mentor agency RSS do not believe in democracy. They want to bring hegemony on Indian government so that there will be no more elections and once they get supper majority they will see to that, there will be no further elections in India and that only BJP shall continue to rule on India. This happens in Communist countries such as Russia and China. Modi's steps are in that direction and we should note it well otherwise it may be tool late. Luckily, for us they have majority in Lower House but in Upper house, they do not have that. Had they had that by now, our democracy would have been rapped up and closed down. These days we are having state elections. If in them, BJP gets majority their power in Upper House will improve and that could be the danger signal to our democracy. Therefore, BJP should not be able to get that majority if we want our democracy to continue. Unfortunately, most India voters are not aware of this danger from BJP. Actually, I feel all those parties who do not believe in democracy, such as Communist party, Shiva Sena, BJP, should not be allowed to contest elections.

If you have noticed as soon as Modi came to be PM, he began to try to control Face Book and Google so that these important media will work for him. We also should remember that Face Book succumbed to his tricky talk initially, as the head of that media is a small young boy. Google being more mature did not and continued to stick to their neutral policy.

Modi's craze for internet is well known. Everything that comes under that he wants to promote. Cashless, digital, on line all these are being encouraged. All these modern things have their advantages but the key issue is that availability of INTERNET is first achieved. Modi government does not understand the priorities in this work. First INTERNET connectivity must be guaranteed on 24X7 bases and only after that is realized he might try to introduce them. In our country, we have not yet done it at city levels. Leave alone village and other countryside. Therefore, we need formulate act that will make mandatory INTERNET services to all country flawlessly and after having attained that government may try to bring them. Unless that is achieved neither RBI nor government can force people to take to cashless and other craze.
In my next post, I wish to elaborate on how our taxation and interest rate policies are responsible for our present fiscal mess.
