To understand JNU movement

JNU is in much talk all over in almost all media and newspapers in our country because of one agitation they have commenced to voice their grievances. It is in news that an occasion was arranged to celebrate death of Afzal Guru who is noted for his wrong activities in our country. We also heard of slogans raised in favor of Pakistan and against India. All this is definitely not acceptable in our country and that is very much correct.

This activity on the part of Jawaharlal Nehru University students appears to be in wrong and bad taste apparently. I was also very much upset on such an activity from our next generation; but when last week their leader told in one interview, that it was not a voice to express freedom from India but within India, that matters began to be clear to me. At least, that is what I say because; the concept of freedom within India is something interesting to me.
We had been in shackles of slavery since last one thousand years. First Muslims came and then English, Portuguese, French and Danish in small parts of our country. The rule of Muslims particularly the Turks did not destroy our self-identity we were deprived of many of our great traditions due to Islam but those rulers became part of India as they accepted India as their country and never returned to their land, as did British. When British began to rule it was worst type of rule as they began to uproot our very identity by introducing their identity on our enlightened upper class society. We digested all this and finally cleared them and got this freedom. We wanted to have freedom in which we can enjoy many types of freedoms particularly freedom of food, speech, movement, thinking and expressing our thoughts fearlessly. All these and many more were, if I am correct, were promised to us by our Constitution.

However, to our dismay we find that present government has begun to curb all these freedoms and more from us by back door tack ticks. Not only does JNU but also all freethinking people in our country are worried about this new development. JNU students have begun agitation for freedom from INSIDERS! So far, we know freedom fight against OUTSIDERS but this is definitely a new concept for all of us. JNU, as it were, discovered that India has again gone in shackles! This time shackles of not any outside invaders but of our own people whom we entrusted power by voting them to power. Both political and bureaucrats are our new rulers and that JNU wants to fight because they together are attempting to curb our various freedoms. If my understanding of this agitation is, correct.

Leader of that student group Mr. Kanhaya is declared by the authority as an anti-national activist but here we should get an explanation about what is the definition of term anti-national. I believe this term means against nation. However, Mr. Kanhaya did not say any thing against nation; his voice was against this government. Now we should get clearance from our legal experts about what is difference in two terms, anti-national and anti-government. Do they mean to be synonyms? Government is definitely not nation. It a public body out of that one eights (or less) is elected by people and rest of the measure part is bureaucratic. How they are elected, we know very well and so these elected persons do not constitute whole of nation. Most are elected by small margins and the total voting is never more than 50% of the population. Out of that 50%, voting some 35% only represents these elected MPs and MLAs. This I put up as an estimated averaging. Looking to this we cannot take them as true representatives of the country as a whole. They by all standards represent only a small minority of people. However, we accept them as representatives due to our helplessness, that we can never achieve true popular majority votes. All this explains that by no consideration government does not mean nation at any level.

I suggest to these amateur student leaders that if they want to raise voice against this "INSIDER INVASION", through voting then, they should voice it in that way and stop making noise by shouting slogans against India and such other foolish moves.

Talking of freedom for Kashmir they who want to talk of it should first achieve suitable GDP for that state, say of the order of 7.5 or more and then come with suitable suggestion for that freedom as with that kind of GDP a state may think of forming a separate nation. However, what is present GDP of Kashmir? Moreover, Kashmir is a land locked country. They should consider the condition of all land locked countries such as Russia, Afghanistan, and Nepal. It is wiser to be within India and achieve suitable GDP for their state. Differences of opinions are everywhere in our families also but that does not mean to talk of separation at every difference of opinion.
